Blogs
Blog comes from the two words web log. It is a type of website designed to provide a space for writing online. Blogs invite audiences to read and respond that provide feedback as comments.

Blogger (Google): an easy Google tool to create a blog with photos and video.

Edmodo: an Educational "Facebook" site where students can post questions, answer questions, post assignments and communicate with their teacher on a daily basis.
Schoology: just like Edmodo but I find it a little more user friendly.

Microblogging
TodaysMeet - Create a chat room and have students answer questions, leave comments in real time.
Ms. G and I used this site to model appropriate online blogging writing. Students answered a question using appropriate (not formal) online language.
This is a great formative assessment tool to find immediate feedback for student understanding.

Podcasts and vodcasts
Podcast comes from the words iPod and broadcast. A podcast is a series of digital media files (either audio or visual) that are released episodically.

Visual Learning Tools
Videos and Photos:
Students learn and spread information using media such as YouTube, photo sites, and online presentation tools that feature visual displays. Some examples that were used:
Digital Storytelling:
VoiceThread- upload a collection of photos, documents to create a story or presentation and get feedback
Go Animate - create an animated cartoon for free
Photos and Video Tools:
Flickr, Picassa - share and edit photos
Voki (create a talking Avatar) - Students used this tool to practice their Spanish pronunciation, recording a mini autobiography. Or summarize a book or chapter for a homework assignment.
Glogster - create an online poster. Use video, photos, text and clip art to create an online poster.
Students used Glogster to create an advertisement for their STEM Business. Also, students created a book report including pictures, summary of the book, and main chararacter descriptions.

Wikis are web pages that students can use to write, edit, and add elements, such as images and video, to create collaborative projects. Teachers can monitor group work and track the work done by each student.

Webquests
A WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented lesson format in which most or all the information that learners work with comes from the web. You can easily create webquests in a Word document or PowerPoint that include links.
Webquest Maker (My favorite)- Zunal, where you can access already-made webquests that includes a directory to search or you make your own. This is a free tool, however, you can upgrade for more features and options.
